“Architecture starts with an idea”

Good design solutions are not merely visually interesting, but are driven by an underlying concept. A concept is an idea that sets the framework or criteria with which we can organize, understand, and give meaning to external experiences. It converts information into personal experience.

Without these underlying concepts informing the design of their buildings, architects are merely space-planners. Space-planning is not architecture, architecture is the DNA of a building; an embodiment of form, function, proportioning… the sensibility that fuses the parts into a whole.

What architecture means to me

It is impossible for me to pinpoint what intrigues me the most about architecture. Perhaps it is due to the fact that I have always enjoyed drawing and doing arts and crafts, or my passion for creating beautiful things on my own. Architecture reconciles all of these aspects, stimulating my imagination both spatially and texturally. My inherent interest in the field can also largely be attributed to my parents, who encouraged my creativity and sharpened awareness for design at an early age. I suppose, it is the intrinsic appeal that fascinates me, the fact that it combines so many aspects of life, stimulating all of our senses. We as designers and creators are limited only by the constraints of our imagination, so the possibilities are endless.

In order to ensure that a project is successfully executed, an architect should always strive to see a project through from inception to construction.

Having gained experience in all 9 work phases, I am able to negotiate and balance competing demands of a project, while honoring the needs of the client and the integrity of the entire project.
