From horse stables to coffin storage to modern living space

History of the house

The main- and outbuildings of the property date back to the end of the 17th century, with the outbuilding in particular having undergone several fundamental changes since then so that only parts of the outer walls on the ground floor can be assigned to the time of its origin. The main building has largely survived from the time of construction except for a few walls inside. Here the changes in the period from the end of the 17th century to the middle of the 19th century cannot be traced due to the lack of archive material and the illegible distinction in the construction method.

Reconstruction concept and architecture

The primary goal in preserving the structure was to restore the structural integrity of the structure, as well as preserve as many of the original materials as possible.

Apart from the outer walls in the main building and outbuilding, the historic stock was particularly evident in the vaults of the former horse stables and the perfectly preserved roof truss.

The rafter roof was designed as a collar beam roof and consists of a total of 10 rafters. Two struts arranged approximately in the middle between the trusses, which reach from the chair sleeper to the frame, serve as longitudinal bracing. The roof truss should not be defaced or hidden by the expansion of the attic. Thanks to elaborate dry construction work, the cross braces, the wooden connections and the front of the rafters remained visible, so that the medieval carpentry art can still be admired even despite the two-storey loft conversion! In the course of the renovation, the appearance of the building was aesthetically enhanced and its functionality was optimized, always based on the verifiable original historic circumstances. Contemporary upgrades should help to secure the future of this landmark building
