Pfettrachpalais

Simple yet elegant aesthetics within context

The renovation of the core at the adjacent house of Wagnergasse 9 included the dismantling of the previously attached garage with the aim of opening up the stables from the 17th century, allowing them to take on a more productive use.

The garage was dismantled, with the plan to construct adjoining apartment, with five parking spaces along Pfettrachgasse.

The new building replaces the old stable building, within the original footprint. This recreates the original courtyard layout, including an inner courtyard that can be used by the residents, ensuring a quiet and pleasant living environment in the center of the city. The old courtyard layout is thus restored and a pleasant inner courtyard/common courtyard is created.

In order to create a contrast to the surrounding buildings, which evoke winding, squiggly structures, the appearance here should be as straight and clear as possible. For this purpose, the eaves height of the adjoining building was adopted in order to avoid unnecessary jumps. Internal drainage of the eaves was also incorporated, as well as evenly proportioned windows.
