Urban Vision: Integration and Revitalization through a Symbolic Move

Initial situation and task definition

On January 31, 2023, the outdoor store Alpenstrand closed its doors, leaving a significant gap in the Neustadt. Three floors of the building have been vacant since then, further burdening the already neglected Neustadt. To address this issue, efforts were made in collaboration with the developers to find a new tenant in order to renovate and lease the premises accordingly.

New Tenant and Symbolic Move

The Landshuter Netzwerk e.V. is the new tenant! The association stands for integration and support and was previously located at the train station. The move of the association to the city center is not just a logistical step, but a powerful symbol of the desired integration into society. By relocating to the heart of the city, it becomes evident that the values of the association—such as support, inclusion, and community—are now directly embedded in the daily lives of citizens. This new presence creates a bridge between the association and residents, making the concerns of disadvantaged groups more tangible. It is an invitation for everyone to actively participate in the dialogue and work together towards positive change. Thus, the move embodies the desire for closeness and collaboration, demonstrating that each individual can be part of this important mission.

Renovation and Remodeling

In collaboration with the new tenant, the existing spatial concept has been adjusted and optimized. Although the new premises are in a better location, they offer less space than before. Therefore, various modifications were made: an elevator was installed to facilitate access, and the rooms were tailored to meet the specific needs of the association. Additionally, the former display windows on the ground floor were removed to allow for functional use of the space.
